Background
In the late 1920s, Mikhail Bulgakov began the novel that was destined to be written. “The Master and Margarita” survived the fire and rebirth, and they also survived their creator, seeing the light of day almost thirty years after his departure. Since then, the novel has been known throughout the world, and we invite you to take a walk in the footsteps of the immortal writer and his immortal work.
A fascinating journey into Bulgakov’s modern times awaits you, getting to know the master’s world, his struggle and love. During our signature version of Bulgakov's Master and Margarita tour, the streets of Moscow will tell you colorful stories and help you find a couple of clues from the text of the novel, and maybe you'll even see a Hippopotamus idly strolling along the sidewalk.

Anton Latynin Moscow expert, theater and literary critic, author and leader of dozens of thematic excursions around Moscow in Russian, German and English. Today, employees of the international pharmaceutical company Sanofi, headquartered in Paris and operating in over 100 countries, walked along the "Master and Margarita" tour route. There were approximately 100 people in total, divided into four groups. A group of six friends took a tour of "The Master and Margarita." Among them were a mother and a small child, aged between 10 and 12, who abandoned the group mid-tour due to heavy rain. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed the walk. Tour guide Anastasia led the group to the building where Bulgakov lived. There, the group enthusiastically took photos near the graffiti-covered walls. One participant was particularly enthusiastic about capturing all the picturesque views along the route. On Friday, Yegor led a private evening tour of "The Master and Margarita." At first, the friends and their families considered walking at night, but dreading the autumn Moscow chill, they opted for an evening stroll. Everyone had at least seen the film before the tour, and some were serious fans of Bulgakov's work. This Saturday, we had two bachelorette party excursions going on at the same time. One group chose the "Master and Margarita" route, the other the "Sinner Haunts" (the bar-hopping version). We booked both excursions carefully, taking great care not only in choosing the custom itineraries but also in selecting the guides. "Theater capital" - an author's route through the places of Meyerhold, Stanislavsky, Nemirovich-Danchenko, Tairov (undeservedly forgotten, it was he who created the current Pushkin Theatre on Tverskoy Boulevard).
Two and a half hours of fascinating stories and urban theatre legends. I'll tell you one:
The great composer Sergei Prokofiev lived in Kamergersky Lane. And he managed to die on the same day as Stalin. There was a terrible crush in Moscow, everything was blocked off, the entire capital wanted to say goodbye to the leader. So, to see Prokofiev off, the coffin was carried out from Kamergersky Lane on the roofs. I can vividly imagine this picture.
