Background
What is the true face of Moscow is a truly debatable question. During a tour of the architecture of Moscow, on the winding streets of the capital city, you can see medieval fortifications, tented chambers of the 16th and 17th centuries, baroque estates, noble estates of the classical era, standard examples of eclectic historicism, masterpieces of Art Nouveau, avant-garde buildings of constructivism, grandiose skyscrapers of the Stalinist Empire style, rational quests modernism, simple attempts to return to the classics, modern experiments with forms. And in each case the conversation is about Moscow. An eclectic stylistic vinaigrette, by the will of fate, creates a true portrait of the capital. If circumstances are favorable, after visiting an architectural excursion you will learn to read the universal chronicle of time and begin to guess the era at first sight. Moscow will become clearer to you, and in the future, perhaps, more beloved.

Not every new district in Moscow allows for such a coherent discussion of industrial history, urban memory, and contemporary architectural language. That's why our bureau's latest signature tour was dedicated to Zilart, a district that grew on the site of the former Likhachev Automobile Plant. This time, the tour included developers from the Samolet company, who have chosen our bureau for tours before. Previously, the guide had led the same group on a walk through Zamoskvorechye, where the discussion focused on residential complexes and the historical environment. This time, the focus shifted to a completely different urban context: an area undergoing large-scale redevelopment, where new architecture literally emerges from the industrial past. Read more...

A year ago, we organized a drinking tour for Yandex near Moscow State University. Today, we're summing up our collaboration with the IT giant and their "Summer Together" project this year. As part of the corporate event, Yandex employees were immersed in our bureau's fascinating city tours every week. On Saturdays, six individual groups embarked on a journey through Moscow's cultural attractions, accompanied not only by guides but also by curators who assisted with organizational matters and assessed the guests' impressions. After each tour, participants shared their feedback in the corporate automated system. What we personally missed: we would have liked more of a historical section related to ancient Moscow and the history of Kitay-gorod. There were quite a few stories about the Soviet period and bar life, but for our group, it wasn't very relevant. We think the program could have been more tailored to the age and interests of the group.
It would also have been interesting to add more historical facts, monuments, and details about old Moscow and the area itself. That said, the tour was still interesting, and some places and churches were truly memorable. These aren't really "cons," but rather suggestions for an even more comprehensive program.
We had a corporate group of 10 people. Our guide was Anton, and we had a tour of Bulgakov. I would like to point out the excellent organization; everything went smoothly. The managers were very accommodating to our changes in the number of participants. The bus was very comfortable. Anton is a super-engaged and motivated guide.
He lives this story and takes great pleasure in sharing his knowledge and creating impressions.
Everything went well. I recommend it!
