Thais in Moscow: A Journey Through the Ages
Yesterday took place individual excursion For guests from sunny Thailand, tour guide Maria led a couple of children on foot and by metro through Moscow's most interesting sights, starting at the Continental Hotel across from the English Club.
The tour for the guests from Thailand and all the guide’s commentary were in English.
Business partners of the Thais from Rostelecom reached an agreement with the art director of Radius, Anton, so that their colleagues from Southeast Asia could get acquainted with the culture and history of Russia.
The excursionists showed a keen interest in our history, family relationships and everyday life, asking many questions, even to the point of what we usually eat, and what we eat more often, meat or chicken, what we buy and cook…
From the hotel, the participants went to the Moscow metro, visiting the stations "Tverskaya", "Teatralnaya", "Ploshchad Revolyutsii" and "Arbatskaya". The guests were impressed by the beauty of the interiors and the depth of the stations, and were also interested in the question of whether our stations can be a refuge... Therefore, during the story about the history of the blue line, built in the 1930s, the guide told about its conversion into a deeper metro line after the bombing of Moscow during the Great Patriotic War.
By the way, the guests noticed that the escalators of the Bangkok metro move slower than those in Moscow.
Next, the excursionists went to the Kremlin, where Maria, a graduate student in architecture, spoke about the history of its construction and the features of each of the Orthodox churches on its territory, about the layout, paintings and various specialized questions that only an architect can answer.
One of the guests shared his previous experience of visiting the Kremlin, noting that now he learned much more, because his previous guide was... a Thai woman, with whom they, unfortunately, quickly went to the food court, and then to GUM for ice cream. As a result, the episode with ice cream and the food court was at the top of the jokes of this excursion.
Much was said about the Patriotic War of 1812, Napoleon and the influence of those events on architecture and monuments.
Kremlin and Alexander Garden. The guests were chilly in early November, and they joked that the frosts drove Napoleon out of Russia, but not them. After a walk through the Alexander Garden and watching the changing of the guard, the tourists asked whether Rus' originated from Kyiv.
The deep interest of the guests inspired the guide too! After a warming tea at the Bosco Cafe, the participants went to Zaryadye.
The guests liked the author's excursion so much that they invited Maria to dinner. They couldn't get into the Thai restaurant, so Maria offered them an alternative - the restaurant "Ryba Moya" on the Old Square. There the guys continued to talk about the country, education, travel, and family life.
An interesting observation was voiced by one of the guests: Thai food in Moscow is too sweet.
Great communication with sincere and interesting people took place during and after the private excursion. The excursionists sent photos and left warm words of gratitude, and their Russian business partner noted that the guests were imbued with Moscow. We are pleased to receive such feedback on personal excursions and share our love for our city and country.
