How Shepherds and Architecture Brought Cities Together
Who would have thought that the President of the Russian Union of German Shepherd Lovers would be on a personal tour of Moscow for his Pakistani colleague! Yes, that's right. Imran Hussain, a respected judge from Pakistan, who has visited Russia more than once, became a guest of our tour agency. From August 16 to 18, a prestigious German Shepherd exhibition was held in the city of Vidnoye, and, of course, he could not miss it.
Our guide met Imran at the Kutafya Tower, and a walk through the historical corners of the city began. They walked along the classic route under the Trinity Tower. They discussed the snow-white Palace of Congresses, built in the second half of the 20th century. The Pakistani guest noted that this is an example of the international style of modernism, typical of that time in America, Europe and Russia. It seems that they found a common language in this architectural theme.
Then they turned to the arsenal and museum storerooms of the Moscow Kremlin, where more than eight hundred guns are kept. The excursionist was impressed by this fact. The Patriarch's Palace, as an example of civil architecture, also did not leave him indifferent. The guest was fascinated by the carved elements and the facade of the Faceted Chamber. He asked questions about the oldest churches, their history and painting, especially inside the Assumption and Annunciation Cathedrals.
In the Archangel Cathedral, Imran Hussein studied the burial places of the princes, and then they went to the Tainitsky Garden, which offers a picturesque view of the Moscow River. The story of how part of the tower wall was demolished for the construction of the Grand Kremlin Palace designed by Bazhenov, and then restored by order of Catherine II, aroused his particular interest. The Balchug Hotel, with its turret, also did not go unnoticed.
Our guide gave Imran a funny surprise, showing him fake rocks in the garden. This is a little secret that we leave for our clients to keep the intrigue for future excursions. The walk ended at the Tsar Cannon, where Imran inquired about the professional activities of our guide. It seems that their dialogue about ancient Russian painting and Byzantine influences left him with the most pleasant impressions.

Two and a half hours of fascinating stories and urban theatre legends. I'll tell you one:
The great composer Sergei Prokofiev lived in Kamergersky Lane. And he managed to die on the same day as Stalin. There was a terrible crush in Moscow, everything was blocked off, the entire capital wanted to say goodbye to the leader. So, to see Prokofiev off, the coffin was carried out from Kamergersky Lane on the roofs. I can vividly imagine this picture.
