A walk through the places of immortal labor “Moscow and Muscovites”. Moscow is a city of contrasts. This statement was not in doubt at all times. Many visiting travelers have written about the luxury and squalor of the Eurasian capital. But, perhaps, not a single publicist felt the Moscow contrasts as reverently and sensitively as Vladimir Alekseevich Gilyarovsky. A tireless adventurer, a devoted friend of the creative elite, a regular at restaurants, an expert on the slums, a friend of the beggars - everywhere he belongs, always among his friends. During the excursion, we will walk in the footsteps of Uncle Gilay, refresh our memory of everyday sketches of bygone eras, and imagine the “passions” that were happening on the other side of the walls of the beautiful central houses.
Let's look into distant times through the prism of the destinies of the personalities glorified by Gilyarovsky. Heroes of the excursion: reckless cab drivers, “protectors” of markets, “intelligent” police chiefs, embezzlers, creative swindlers, “clafeliners” and “victims of social temperament”, loving intelligentsia, resourceful entrepreneurs. Let us analyze the morals and characters of the century before last in order to ultimately recognize the undoubted rightness of A.S. Griboedov: “The houses are new, but the prejudices are old.”
Such excursions are referred to as “a tour of Moscow for Muscovites.” But the excursion about Gilyarovsky and his time is not only for Muscovites, since far beyond the capital people have read and are reading the novel “Moscow and Muscovites”, and the hot spots and bohemian color are of interest to any layman and researcher.

Guide Anastasia led a tour for the employees of a private multidisciplinary clinic located near Petrovka. The clinic's director decided to organize the excursion so that the staff, who have worked in this historic area for over ten years, could finally learn more about the area's history. The purpose of the event was twofold: not only to learn about the rich history but also to organize a small corporate event with plenty of photos. "Theater capital" - an author's route through the places of Meyerhold, Stanislavsky, Nemirovich-Danchenko, Tairov (undeservedly forgotten, it was he who created the current Pushkin Theatre on Tverskoy Boulevard).
Two and a half hours of fascinating stories and urban theatre legends. I'll tell you one:
The great composer Sergei Prokofiev lived in Kamergersky Lane. And he managed to die on the same day as Stalin. There was a terrible crush in Moscow, everything was blocked off, the entire capital wanted to say goodbye to the leader. So, to see Prokofiev off, the coffin was carried out from Kamergersky Lane on the roofs. I can vividly imagine this picture.
