Galloping through the beauties. "Accelerated" author's excursion for MGIMO students
Guides Anton and Alexey started with the participants from MGIMO on buses. The individual route was directed along the shortest route along Vernadsky Avenue, where magnificent views of the capital opened up. The guides shared interesting information about Moscow and its symbols, such as Moscow State University and the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
On Vasilievsky Spusk, after disembarking, Masha and Nastya joined the guides, and the participants were regrouped. Everyone was given headphones, and the organizers set a clear task - to be at the Kutafya Tower of the Kremlin in an hour and a half, so that the guys could go to the concert, because, unfortunately, the excursion began an hour after the appointed time, since the start of the walk was delayed due to some of the participants.
The group included many MGIMO students representing different regions, as well as guests from Transnistria and Armenia.
The walk along Vasilievsky Spusk was filled with a Christmas atmosphere, as everything was decorated for the holiday. Anastasia talked about Zaryadye Park, the symbolism and structure of St. Basil's Cathedral, and answered many questions about Red Square, the Moskvoretsky Bridge, and other attractions. Despite the cold weather, the tour participants were in good spirits.
The guests walked around Red Square, taking photos and asking questions. For example, about the expression "Moscow does not believe in tears" and the opportunity to enjoy ice cream in GUM. Alexey explained that the phrase is connected with the history of the rise of Moscow and the collection of tribute, when tears were not believed, and happily confirmed that you can really try ice cream in GUM, which is what was done.
Having reached Nikolskaya Street, we admired the lanterns and took photos. The guide told and showed how to make a wish in the city by throwing coins so that it would certainly come true. Then the participants walked through the Alexander Garden, where they learned interesting facts about the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Eternal Flame. Having stood at the monument in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty, the group was surprised that the anniversary cookies appeared exactly then - in 1913.
The author's route ended at the Kutafya Tower, and the students went to the concert, leaving behind vivid memories of their walk around Moscow.
