In early spring 1890, when Moscow was just beginning to thaw after a long and harsh winter, Vladimir Gilyarovsky went to Red Square. The sky was covered with a light cloud cover, through which only timid rays of sunlight occasionally broke through. Gilyarovsky, known for his entertaining stories about life in Moscow, walked confidently, as if he knew that this day would give him a new story.
The square, despite the morning, was lively. Crowds of passers-by, traders and cabbies created an indescribable feeling of bustle and life. Suddenly, Vladimir's gaze was drawn to a woman standing at the foot of the monument to Minin and Pozharsky. Her face was hidden by a veil, but a certain aristocratic grace was felt in her posture.
Gilyarovsky, driven by journalistic curiosity, came closer. The woman, noticing him, turned to him with a slight smile: "You must be the same Gilyarovsky that all the newspapers are talking about?" He nodded, trying not to show his surprise. "I'm Anna. I have an unusual offer for you," she continued.
It turned out that Anna was not just a Moscow lady, but a representative of a secret society that was going to protect the historical heritage of the city. They were looking for a person who could, with his articles, draw public attention to the old Moscow buildings that were being demolished.
Gilyarovsky thought about it. He had always been a supporter of preserving cultural monuments, and now he felt that this was his chance to contribute to preserving history. “I would be happy to join your society,” he replied, not hiding his enthusiasm.
While they were discussing the details of their collaboration, a light rain began to fall on Red Square. Drops, like pearls, fell on the paving surface, creating the illusion of a moving canvas. The square seemed to come alive even more, acquiring new, fresh energy.
In those days, when Moscow was changing before our eyes, and old buildings were giving way to new ones, enthusiasts like Gilyarovsky and his new allies became true keepers of history. Thanks to them, many corners of Moscow retained their charm and uniqueness, becoming an integral part of the great city.

The speakers are happy. The connection in the headphones often failed, especially at the checkpoint, but this is our current life situation. It was audible if they were standing close, no further than 1.5 meters. Colleagues have already asked for your contacts. I will gladly share and will be glad to have a new opportunity to work with you. Special thanks to the Director for the Bureau

"Theater capital" - an author's route through the places of Meyerhold, Stanislavsky, Nemirovich-Danchenko, Tairov (undeservedly forgotten, it was he who created the current Pushkin Theatre on Tverskoy Boulevard).
Two and a half hours of fascinating stories and urban theatre legends. I'll tell you one:
The great composer Sergei Prokofiev lived in Kamergersky Lane. And he managed to die on the same day as Stalin. There was a terrible crush in Moscow, everything was blocked off, the entire capital wanted to say goodbye to the leader. So, to see Prokofiev off, the coffin was carried out from Kamergersky Lane on the roofs. I can vividly imagine this picture.
