Friends, let me tell you a story about how I Savvinsky courtyard ran into a swindler. It was one fun evening in Moscow when I decided it was time to learn Chinese. You know, for self-development, and just so I wouldn't look stupid at Chinese people in restaurants.
So I'm walking through the courtyard, and the weather is like this - a warm summer breeze, the sun is breaking through the trees, it's just idyllic. The history of this place, you know, goes back to the 17th century. Savvinskoye Podvorye is not just an architectural wonder, it's a whole piece of Moscow history. Imagine how nuns once decided important matters here!
And so, I'm passing by, when suddenly a guy in a brand-new suit runs up to me and says: "Do you want to learn Chinese in one day?" Of course, I almost choked from surprise. I thought, what the hell? But then curiosity got the better of me. I started listening to him.
This guy introduced himself as a professor from Beijing, says he invented a unique method for mastering the language of Confucius in one day. Well, I thought, something is wrong here. But he told it so smoothly that I almost bought it. My head immediately thought: “Wow! Tomorrow I’ll speak Chinese like a native!”
And then it gets worse. He started showing me some papers, like certificates and diplomas. I, a fool, don't read them carefully, I trust him because the man presents everything so confidently. And then he says to me: "Come on, pay, and tomorrow you'll feel right at home in China!"
Well, at that moment something struck me. I thought, damn, maybe he's just a swindler? I live in Moscow, and there are stories like that everywhere. I decided to test him and asked, "Can you explain some Chinese symbol right now?" The poor guy hesitated. He started babbling something about how now is not the time, that the methodology needs to be followed. Well, that's when I figured him out. I thought, damn, I've stumbled into some kind of nonsense again!
As a result, my friend began to quickly retreat, apparently realizing that his trick had failed. And I stood there, watching him go, and thought: “Well, Moscow is teaching me life lessons again. Next time I’ll be smarter!”
So, friends, here's my advice to you: if someone offers to learn Chinese in one day - run! Moscow is a big city, you'll meet even bigger people here!
