The weather outside was typical for Moscow: a grey sky, a light drizzle, and only the occasional passerby hurrying about their business. On this day in Tchaikovsky Concert Hall A concert dedicated to the brilliant composer was supposed to take place, but plans unexpectedly changed.
The hero of the occasion was none other than Ivan Kaznokradov, a well-known official in narrow circles. His last name was telling, and this was no accident. Ivan specialized in allocating funds from the budget for the "development of culture", which then miraculously evaporated, like air on a hot day.
On the eve of the concert, Ivan decided that he, too, could use a little inspiration from the great composer, so he went to the concert hall to check on the preparations. Kaznokradov, of course, did not expect that instead of musicians he would meet Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky there… Or, at least, his monument, which seemed to look at Ivan with some reproach.
Ivan, being a practical man, decided that the monument was a good way to cover up the next "expenses". "Well, if Pyotr Ilyich himself is looking at me, then it's a sign," he thought and quickly began to make a plan. However, as they say, not all is Shrovetide for the cat.
During his "inspection" Kaznokradov accidentally touched one of the hall's columns, and a cascade of sounds fell upon him - it turned out that the hall had already been equipped with acoustic systems for a rehearsal. Ivan, who had not expected such musical accompaniment, was confused and rushed to the exit in a panic. At the door he was met by the hall's employees, who with a smile offered to "help" him sort out the problems that had suddenly arisen.
Kaznokradov did not expect that his "deal" with the monument would end this way. He tried to justify himself, but it looked as if he himself had become a victim of his own cunning scheme. His behavior caused open laughter among all those present, and the next day the news carried an article with the headline "Official tried to steal inspiration from Tchaikovsky."
The concert took place, of course, but Ivan failed to attend. Instead, he went home, thinking about how he could fool himself next time.
