On one of those grey Moscow days when the sky seemed to hang over the city like a heavy shawl, Poklonnaya Gora plunged into the mists of time. Here, among the modern buildings and monuments that, like petrified guards, watch over eternity, a strange visitor appeared - a serf peasant from the distant past.
At the same time, as if by fate, Peter I appeared in the same place. His tall figure, in a luxurious caftan, stood out against the gray day. He walked confidently, as if he knew that something special was waiting for him today.
The meeting was unexpected for both. The peasant, stunned by the vision of the great king, bowed his head respectfully, not daring to raise his eyes. Peter, noticing him, slightly narrowed his eyes and smiled, as if to an old friend.
"Why are you wandering around Moscow, father?" the tsar asked loudly, looking at the peasant. The latter, a little embarrassed, replied: "Well, sir, I wanted to see how people live in the future, and to visit Poklonnaya Gora."
Peter chuckled and looked into the distance, where modern buildings towered. “I wonder if you know what will happen here in the future?” he asked, pointing his hand toward the horizon.
The peasant, not understanding what was being said, shook his head. "Here, on this land, people will remember the great victories, the exploits of our ancestors. But most importantly, they will build a future in which, I hope, your descendants will live better."
The farmer thought. He looked at his hands, rough and calloused, and imagined how his descendants would perhaps work in these new buildings, living in freedom and happiness.
Peter continued: "And the sky, it will always be the same here. Sometimes gray, sometimes clear, but always free. Remember this when you come back. And don't be afraid to dream about the future, because it is dreams that make it reality."
The peasant nodded, and as if by magic, he found himself back in his own time, in a distant village. But in his soul there now lived hope and a desire for change.
And Peter, remaining on Poklonnaya Gora, looked at the sky and quietly whispered: “Oh, damn, how everything will change.”
He stood there for a long time, thinking about the future of Russia, about its people, and about how important it is to remain true to your dreams and goals, no matter what.
